With the grace of God, Management Committee came into existence in 1984 for
the development and upliftment of the temple and neglected surrounding areas. The
committee was registered as a society in the year 1986. It was due to the untiring
efforts of the founder members of the committee viz. S/Sh. Balbir Singh, Lekh Raj
Pathania, Pritam Singh, Shankar Singh, Raghubir Singh, Om Parkash Katoch, Subhash
Sharma, Banarsi Lal Mehta, Ram Lal Badiyal, Krishan Singh, Joginder Singh Katoch,
Darshan Singh that led to its formation. In the initial years it had to face opposition
by the locals and other financial difficulties but under the guidance of respected
Shri Vikram Singh Katoch, devoted members and devotees coming from various walks
of life, the committee overcame all these hurdles and it is striving for all round
the development, upliftment and publicity of the temple. It felt financially crippled
with the decision of Hon’ble Court which held that on all offering inside the ancient
temple, Priest will have exclusive right. It is now with the financial support of
the donors and devotees that the committee is carrying out various activities for
the welfare of the people and upkeep and development of the place. The first edition
of the history of the temple was brought by the Committee in the year 1992. A grand
Ram Temple with the idols Lord Radha Krishna, Lord Ram Parivar, Goddess Durga, Lord
Mahaveera and Lord Shiv Parivar has been installed by the committee in the year
1995. Daily Langar is arranged by the committee in two langar Halls where about
one thousand devotees can sit and have food together. Smt. Sonia Gandhi Chairman
UPA, Dr. Karan Singh former Union Minister, Sh. Vishanu Kant Shastri and Smt. Rama
Devi Ex-Governors HP also paid their obeisance before Pracheen Shiv Lingam. The
committee also got every kind of co-operation from VIPs among whom Sh. Virbhadra
Singh ex Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal Chief Minister, HP and other MPs, Ministers
and MLAs. The works accomplished by the committee include Kathgarh Mandir Dwar at
Indora Barrier Chowk, beautiful marble stairs leading to temple, Yatri Nivas, Proper
Raked place for shoes, Drinking Water, toilets etc. It is at continuous insistence
and request of the committee and locals that the Government have started construction
of bridge over Chaunch Khadd. The committee is also conducts Talent Hunt competition
for the students and the toppers are awarded cash prizes, Certificates and Medals
at the three days District Level Function of Maha Shivratri. The Committee has completed
26 years and it is continuing working with the same zeal and fervour as at the time
of inception. About two lac devotees per annum come to pay obeisance at this place.
The committee proposes to undertake construction of Mahadev park, Boundary Wall,
Gosadan and Canteen besides opening of technical institute, supporting education
of the downtrodden, Old age home etc.

About Temple
Shiv Mandir Kathgarh is one of the very famous temple in Himachal Pardesh. This
temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and Parvati. Temple is situated 7 Kilometers from
Indora on the meeting point of the Beas and the Choch rivers, built in Roman architectural
style housing two Lingas of light grey Sandy stone of 6’ and 4’-7” in height having
octagonal base with every side measuring 1’-3” and 1’-3” above the ground level
personifying Lord Shiva and Parvati respectively. These Lingas which are in direction
of North-West stand 3 1/2" apart at the bottom and inclining towards each other
with just 2" away from each other at the top.
